CA B.A. Shankar is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a M.Com graduate from Pondicherry University. He is also an Associate Member of ICMAI and ICSI, bringing a multidisciplinary professional perspective. He is a Partner of V Verma & Co., Chartered Accountants, with offices across Hazaribagh, Salem, Bengaluru and Kolkata. A rank holder in his professional examinations, his core areas of expertise are Direct and Indirect Taxation.

 He regularly handles taxation matters and represents clients before the Commissioner of Income Tax, ITAT and other authorities. He has extensive experience in tax advisory, litigation, professional consultancy and business advisory services. A passionate educator, he serves as Visiting Faculty at ICAI, ICMAI, ICSI and various B-Schools. He has presented numerous papers and conducted seminars, workshops and training programme on taxation and allied subjects.

He served as Chairman, Salem Branch of SIRC of ICAI (2022–23), during which the branch won the All India Best Branch Award. He also served as Chairman, Salem Branch of SICASA (2023–24), which received the All India Best Branch Award in the Medium Category.  He has served in various SIRC committees, including AI, Public Coordination, and Sustainability Standards & Ethics. He has also been associated with the Finance Committee of ICSE since 2022. His professional philosophy is built on knowledge, integrity, continuous learning and service to the profession.
